serial number of tractor

Howdy,

I own a 1998 L4200. I need to order parts but the serial number is no longer on the tractor. Is there any place on the tractor that would have a stamp of the serial number on a casting or soft plug? Any suggestions appreciated.

The serial number is on a plate that is attached to the side of the transmission.

If that is missing (I believe that) the serial number is also stamped directly into a raised smooth surface on the side of the transmission (below the seat area).

Hopefully someone that owns your same model will also comment.

It can also be found on the motor, on a flat spot by the injector pump.

Lower right side of transmission housing is a ground smooth area with the tractor serial number stamped into it.
Engine serial is on right hand side on block, ground smooth area with number stamped into it. Right under the fuel system bleeder valve on your injection pump.
