Sealing A Steering Knuckle Bearing.....

Just a crazy thought I was pondering...I wonder if something non hardening like silicone paste might help sealing a pitted service???? I'm trying to avoid $450.00 for a new housing... Also torque specs for bevel housing and front axle gear housing?? L 3130
