in the last few months i have been contacted by people responding to a classified i posted over a year ago. suspicious after a few back and forths, so i check and they are new members supposedly with a deck or gear box i am interested in. any way be very careful of purchases without having hands on.

Might ask for pictures. Be specific, like show model number, or serial number, or a specific part of the item. Ask for other contact information, address. Check address on google earth to confirm they even exist.

all great advice however remember that now you can get a lot of that on line copy and paste. the ones that contacted me had pics. i never got to believing enough to ask for serial #
thanks for the advice. i hope it helps stop a few scams

This sounds like a lynch mob promising to hold a fair trial before they hang him.
I detest cheats and crooks as much as the next man but isn't the promise of "innocent until proven guilty" irreproachable?

The scams that they are pulling are pretty obvious.

Should you give every wolf a fair chance to get domesticated? How many times do you try to do it before assuming they are all wild?

First thing scammers do is to try and gain your trust. So they can pull the wool over your eyes...

Sorry but my approach is Guilty until proven otherwise... Safe vs. sorry...
