So this spring I noticed the paint was lifting on my fenders.
When the paint would peel off of course rust was underneath.
So I removed the fenders.
Had them sand blasted.
Painted on rust inhibitor.
Painted on primer.
Painted on kubota paint.
Next week a second coat.
Then coat of Clearwater.
And reinstall. One fender did have a crack at the bottom I welded and then put the etching stuff to it.

Fine job - looking like new! But wasn't it possible to have them hot-galvanized after the sandblasting?

Not sure where I would find galv dipping.
I have been waiting since may to have them sand blasted as the guy does it outside and it's rained non stop since spring. I'd hate to think I'd need to make hay or buy hay this year.
I bought the tractor new in the spring of 2013.
Drove it on salt covered winter roads six times since I owed it.
The salt isn't good.

Should have had the floor boards blasted too. But to late. So yesterday I wire brushed them and covered with rust inhibitor and today put the paint to them.
I have a Curtis cab coming with a ship date of 10/6. So wanted to get the floor boards taken care of before installing the cab. I also got a set of rubber floor board mats from Messicks. So those will go down once the cab is finished.
Not much down time here.

Picture seems to show that weld mostly missed the crack.

If you look close you can see a slight discolored halo around that Crack. Those bubbles are penatration from tig welding the back side, then backed with aluminum and the Crack you see isn't welded yet. My point was the fender had cracked. Sorry I didn't show it after it was welded.
