Would keeping a brush hog hooked up to the three point provide the extra ballast needed when doing FEL work be ok. It's a woods for a L3800. Thanks Frank

Anything works better than nothing.

The only problem with using an implement is the maneuverability issue. If you are working in a wide open area then a mower would work fine as a counterweight. A box blade, rototiller, etc. are usually pretty heavy also.

Tight areas would cause problems with incidental contact and damage to the implement and/or the thing being hit.
