RTV900 Radiator Fan

The RTV900 over heated under moderate operating conditions. Thermostat was open and water pump was working but radiator fan does not come on. The resistance of the radiator fan motor is 1.2 ohms. I tried to backprobe the connector leading to radiator fan motor but was unable to. Any recommendations on the next troubleshooting step? Thanks, Dan

Right above the alternator is a temperature switch that controls when the fan motor turns on. Unplug the wire from the switch and ground it while the key switch is in the RUN position. If the fan turns on, the switch is faulty.

The fan turned on when I grounded it so I’m picking up a new switch. Thanks for your advice; it really saved me some time and I learned something along the way. Thanks again!
