I bought a 2008 RTV 900 and when I went to unload it from the trailer I couldn't get brake handle disengage? I had to disconnect the cable to get the brake to release. Does anyone know why or have had the same issue as me???

Thanks y'all

Well i see a pawl and ratchet system! It's got to have button to trigger the pawl for release it from the teeth on the ratchet quadrant. So give me a picture of the complete handle. And one of the end where I highlighted. My guess right now is that button has snapped and disintergated.

I just went through RTV900, T, W, G, R and S versions. I checked early from 04 to mid 08 and late 13. I hate to tell you this! They all had release buttons.

I'd hazard a guess that it has a flip over release mechanism which is all gummed up. Pull the handle off and clean/grease mechanism and check the spring.
You could try to push down hard on the handle first, before lifting to release. (If it has this style of release)

One other thought, is the release mechanism activated by the application of the foot brake, meaning put your foot on the foot break hard, then lift and release the handbrake lever. Not sure if Kubota uses this system, but worth a try.

Further looking at your pictures, is it possible the release mechanism in in the lower part of the handle. It appears that the handle is covered with a lighter grey plastic sheath, then a rubber handle over the top. When looking at the sheath, it is possible that the main handle is at the top of that sheath, and there is a little bit wrinkled sheath underneath possibly holding the release mechanism. So when lifting the handle, you also need to squeeze the underside to release it? Just a thought worth trying!

It was probably put on there to keep water out. As long as you know there is a release to push it shouldn't matter that it is on there.
