Okay, it is seldom good to assume anything but I am going to guess that you mean you have a BX2370? If so, here is a spec sheet for that mower.

http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/007/3/0/7304-kubota-bx2370.html

If you look at the spec sheet it says that your mid PTO speed is 2500 RPM at engine RPM 3200. Your rear PTO speed is 540 RPM at engine speed of 3200 RPM.

It does not matter if you are operating a Bush Hog from the rear PTO or a MMM from the mid PTO, the engine speed should still be 3200 RPM for either type of mower.

Gonna tell ya.......there are those that "think" running the tractor at a low setting "helps" the machine, "I dont need to run it too death, the grass is not that tall" ........

as mentioned in post above, there IS A REASON why the 540 is up near the 90% WOT........cause, .......

wait for it ........

that is where it is designed to be used!

You can cut with annyyyy speed you wish, but if you are trying to "help" the machine.....run it up there --- aka - run it up MAX RPM, and back off a curly one. You will find that the blades cut so much better, the grass is pushed so much further and the diesel actually sings!;):)

Is this a BRAND NEW machine? If so, there is a blurb about it in the Op's Manual. It says not to run engine at WOT and to vary the RPM's for the first 50 hours. I am up to 32 hours as of yesterday. We have a large yard so I change the throttle position as I complete each round. I run anywhere from 2,800-3,100 RPM's. Not much of a range, I admit. However, I feel like I am in compliance with Kubota's break-in procedure. Eighteen more hours and all of my mowing will be at 3,200-3,300 RPM. I realize that 3,200 is not wide open but, it's close to it. Is this at all important? I seriously doubt it. That being said, you only get one chance to break in a new machine so I am trying to be patient. Loader work has really helped me to pass the time on the hour meter. Easy to perform a variety of tasks and run the engine speed anywhere from 2,300-3,000. All I can say is, be patient but run it as you see fit.
