I want to work where you do! :D
Me too!! I have taken 8 days off in the past 6 years!!! My own fault I guess, I am a bit of a work-a-holic. I promised my girlfriend we would take a trip this year some place.

That is a great route you have there Cabu!! You will love the trip through the Rocky Mountains, take a day or two to explore places like Banff, Alberta. You wont be disappointed.

Have a great trip, hope you get a chance to meet up with "G" and that Bar-b-q.

I guess that would make me "H".
Check with Canadian Border Services, entry requirements for overseas travelers is a bit different from US entry requirements.

Oregon coast is an excellent choice - nothing else like it anywhere. But watch your travel times - that route can be very slow. Many parts are 40-50 mph, and less in traffic. Slow down and enjoy the view.

Vancouver to Kamloops is fast (toll $10 each way), but through the rockies can be slow, and in places the "Trans Canada Highway" is more of a national disgrace than a national highway. Canmore to Calgary and south is fast, basically rolling hills and flat prairie. Oops - I see you are doing the circuit the other way - no problem.
You will likely find the route from Reno to Mount Shasta to be "interesting". I chose to avoid it. The pass at Lassen Peaks is closed in winter, that will give you an idea if the local conditions. We were up there in late May, road still closed due to snow.

Banff is beautiful. Thora and I were there in 1985. the Glacier National Park is worth a drive through. You take the "Going to the Sun" road west, turn around and drive back. When you are in New England, Plimoth Plantation is good, and if you have time, Old Sturbridge Village off the Massachusetts Turnpike west of Worcester is very good. It is a reconstructed village set in 1830 and you can get a feel for the early U.S. before money and politics ruined the country. We would be glad to meet a small German family but are in northern Vermont and off you path for this time. Enjoy your visit!

I was several times skying in Bretton wood's :) I will discuss with my wife if she likes to take a trip up north. We will stay at the weekend 4/5 of June with a friend from Salem, NH. We will fly on the 8th to the west. At the moment we have on our list to visit friend, Pilgrim Plantation and whale-watching. So until now there would be time heading north for one day...

Would be nice to see you and Vermont. :)

As I have just got to India for two weeks (service), I figured out it would be good to have Internet over the Cell phone net also in the states.
I would like to get something like a SIM-card with a prepaid internet traffic of 1GB. Searching maps cost traffic... Has somebody a good tip? It should work nationwide and prepaid-codes should be available at most gas-stations. In germany you get them everywhere. Something simular in the states? Her in India I bought yesterday the SIM, an 3G-USB-stick and 3GB traffic for $50. For China I have a contract-typ, 2GB/month for $10.

Thanx for some help.

I checked the situation of mobile internet provider the last day's, it it looks like they have no need to compete. The US are really expansive compared to most other country's. In the end I found a germany provider with a good roaming option...

Only a few day's and my vacation starts. I just arrived home from India. Have to wash the clothes, pack the bag's again and should not forget the wife and child... :D

In Monterey we visited the Aquarium. That is really great!!!
(If you park at a shop to safe the money for parking, the town will charge you a $35 fine :) At Boston Aquarium the regular parking cost also $35 !!!

Today heading east to the Sequoia Park. It will be my third time at the General Sherman Tree, last time it was in the winter, cool!

Daughter need´s a lot of sleep to sort the things out she has seen the day...

Somewhere in the desert: Kingman, Arizona.

We managed to drive a good part of the trip today. Our daughter is still bored in her seat. We have to make more break´s to let her jump around.

We also traveled some parts of the Route 66. Some city´s lost their life when the Interstates took their customers away... In one of them we did the laundry. Boring place. After you have grown up there, you move somewhere else...

Hello,

I think it will still be around the 20-22 of June.

That is one of the reasons why I make this little diary here, so everybody who has invited us, get an idea where we are and how fast we are going on.
Sorry that I can`t make a fixed day one week befor. But I hope we get it managed to arrange our schedule.

Hope to see you!!

Yesterday we climb the rim at the Vally of the Gods. The view is wonderfull.
