It's not only the bristles of the broom, but the frame for the broom that could hinder your use anywhere near a 12" rise.

As far as sweeping the grass, very little damage will be done with a poly brush, many use them to sweep up leaves off of lawns.
Seems like the frame on one side of the broom is very low profile (maybe an inch or so past the bristles). However, when the broom is angled, the frame profile starts to become bigger on that side.

On all of my properties, it shouldn't be a problem. I grade the lawns to leave the sidewalk an inch or two proud of the surrounding soil. I despise berms and walls/edges that crowd walkways and driveways. However, I'll also be clearing all of the neighboring sidewalks. Usually, if there is a retaining wall, it only persists for 10-30ft. I wonder if I can run the broom pointed straight for those stretches (throwing most of the snow in front of me), then angle again when I can.

I'm having a hard time understanding how power the broom will be. I can grab a stiff bristle push broom and muck up some grass with some high pressure swipes.
