Rim guard quote

My Kubota dealer called three different places to fill my B2650 rear tires. The cheapest quote was $550.00. That seems extremely high. The tires are 12.4 x 16R4 and at 75% full each tire needs 21 gallons. So 42 gallons put in my tires would break down to over $13.00/gallon. I think that’s crazy!!!!

Thoughts?

2) What Tractor dealer doesn’t do their own tire filling? Especially on new tractors.

You might want to call around yourself to get some prices. Rim Guard is a speciality product the company only lets dealers sell and install.

Last year I called nearby tractor dealers and they gave the the name of a nearby seller/installer. I called him and price was like $3.50 a gallon, plus $75 to install, plus $75 road charge for driving 30 miles.

Even at these cost your would total about $300. Maybe your dealer has a markup on their service/time.

I was quoted $3.50 per gallon. No install charge if I took the tractor to them. $60.00 extra to do it onsite 22 miles from thier location.

I did some calling. The nearest Rim Guard dealer is 45 miles away. $275.00 for them to come to me and $165.00 for me to go to them (Plus, $52.00 for brass valve stems and labor to break the beads and install). Much better!! I may change the stems myself and take the tires to them, I don't have a trailer for the tractor.

He recommends 15 gallons per tire (right around 50% full), not the 21 that Rim Guard states. I'm fine with that. I do know John Deere recommends only filling their tires to 40%, not sure why, but in my mind, anything above the level of the axle is just contributing to becoming top heavy. But then again, I think different then some people.

Anyone have suggestions for a good brass schrader valve for air/fluid?

Had mine filled with PRO-TEK. From what I can see it's another eco version of rim guard. Tires took 44 gallons and total was $150.00 taxes in. I took the rims to them as its not far.

I have 26x12-12 turf tires and I was quoted $65 if I dropped the wheels off at my local Kubota dealer... Just have to find time I'm not using the tractor to take the wheels off! Maybe Sunday
