Yesterday my friend from the GWN and I went to the casino. And while leaving a fellow hit my wallet, and before I could call security he split. So this morning I called the credit card company and closed my card and got a new one ordered. I know there are skimmers that are hand held, and other than the credit card Im not much worried about any other stuff in my wallet.
Now, I am asking because there are people in here that know things about things 99% of us never heard of. So I am asking about the RFID card holders that go in the wallet. I carry a tri fold biker wallet attached to my belt with a chain, so it dont get lost at 80 MPH and pick pockets might have a hard time. And I would rather not have to brake in a new wallet if dont have to. So smart guys and gals tell me all about protecting my cards.

The technology is complicated to explain, but I can tell you these two things:
There has not been a single, proven instance where a card has been used fraudulently after skimming via RFID.
Even if the skim were successful AND the person were able to duplicate it, the card could only be owed once. The electronic CCV (different from the one on the card itself) changes after every use. For any attempt to use it a second time the CCV would not match the RFID of the card.
It is essentially a very low reward/ high effort way to swipe card info. Traditional mag stripe theft is a better payback.

It takes a bit of time to read a card that is designed for RFID reading (Tap N Go), like five seconds. So someone would have to get pretty friendly to get your info. Most of the people selling 'RFID Hardened' card cases are plying on peoples fear.

Although as already stated, you do not have much to worry about from a theft perspective. However, if you wanted to harden your existing wallet, you only need to insert some copper mesh panels on the exterior of the inside (between your stuff and the outer surface of the wallet).

But, I think you do have some significant issues from a fashion perspective.

Heavy Duty BBQ aluminum foil might work.

Beyond the other points noted, also bear in mind that these days when you have RFID ATM/Debit/Credit and perhaps other RFID cards stacked in your wallet it is particularly difficult for any reader to get a read as multiple cards will be trying to respond.

For RFID shielding there are numerous options found on scamazon, fleabay, etc. that will all work fine for the majority of ATM/Debit/Credit cards which use high frequency RFID. They will not work for the low frequency RFID stuff, typically access badges and the like, and most bad reviews of the RFID shielding products are from folks who don't understand the difference between the two types.

The easy cure is to disable the RFID portion of your CC. My CC has to be swiped as I disabled the 'tapngo' feature.
