My elderly next door neighbor passed away several months ago. I was contacted by the executor of his estate letting me know he had left his BX22 and all attachments to me. Not only was I stunned, I didnt know quite what to say. At any rate, here are a few pics of the tractor and the implements.

You are fortunate to have had such a close relationship with your neighbor, I am sure you were both enriched by it.

I've known him 40+ years and were neighbors for 15 years. I worked for him and his family when I was in high school when they farmed cotton, soybeans and he ran the family dairy farm. 100+ head holstein cows. We also grew corn and milo for silage for the dairy herd.

He left farming and went to Alaska to work on the pipeline. He retired as a mechanic/welder then moved back to Mississippi in 97 built a house on 18 acres. I built a house next door to him in 98 and moved in in 99. I spent quite a bit of time helping him around his place. I was still learning from him about how to work on and fix things.

Somewhere in life, good guys do finish FIRST! Take care of the ol girl and work it in remembrance of him! Says a lot about you, hope you have a few children, so they can "see the big picture about life!"

ehenry, some people would say, "You're lucky". What it really is, is an example of: You get what you sow, more then you sow, latter then you sow. Scriptural principles!

If the world was full of people like you and your neighbor we'd still have "Grit" magazine because there would be a lot of positive stories to tell and people interested in reading about them.

Follow your friend's example and use the equipment as a tribute to your friend in everything you do! God bless.

Yes, great tale, I hope someone thinks that well of me someday!
Enjoy your little orange beast & be proud that you were a good enough friend to warrant such a gift!!

There are folks that are friends like the people you work with. Then there are the 4 or 5 true friends, the ones you know you can call on at any time. Then there are those that become a part of your life. Jim and his wife Becky had become a part of my life and I like to think I was that way to them.

I pretty much saw Jim and Becky everyday. I always get home before my wife does so the little dog and I would go up to Jim's barn cause thats always where he was. We'd enjoy a couple beers, talk about the day and just spend a little time.

I found Jim passed away the Friday afternoon before Thanksgiving. He was sitting on a stool at his welding table. He went the way I would have expected him to go....with a wrench in his hand working on something. I'm just glad it wasn't a lit torch.

I'll be joining the True BX users club. Both HST shaft boots busted and mostly gone and HST fan missing all its blades. I'll be doing the work myself. Any words of wisdom and pointers will be appreciated.

I haven't got a clue how long they've been missing either.......Oh well....I'm still in shock over him leaving it all to me.

The fan replacement is almost a full tear down to replace an 8 dollar part,, like 600 bucks to have a dealer do it from what I understand,,,
But if you don't need it right away you have all summer to work on it,, also,, you might want to fab up a skid plate so you don't clean the fan blades off again,,, And some where in here I read where a guy used an electric fan maybe for a radiator made a guard up and use that, and I cant remember where but I read where a guy split the fan base so he has 2 halves of the fan put it around the shaft and super glues the halves together,, I don't know how well it worked

Replacing the HST fan on the BX22/2200 is fairly easy compared to later models. My dealer was replacing a hydraulic line on mine and while he had the deck off replaced mine at no added cost. No need to move the engine like on newer versions.

TripleR, thats exactly what I wanted to hear !!! I was dreading this but now it sound like it might not be so bad.

I post a new thread when I finish it with a report on how hard/easy it was.

I haven't looked at mine, but I think the fan is held on by 4 bolts. That's why you can split it and then bolt it back on without disassembling the tractor.

My being able to keep the BX and implements is coming in to question. My friend left some credit card debt and its intirely possible that the probate court will make me sell it all off to cover the debt. I'm hoping that those that filed claims against the estate wont show up for court. We will just have to see.

That's too bad. I hope it works out well for you in the end.
