Some before/after pics of my '97 M4700DT. I bought it used a few months ago for $6500. It has 2800 hours. It has a smooth engine and trans, but it's had a rough life at a landscaping company. I installed new hydraulic pump and rear brakes, exhaust, hyd lines, and hoses on the FEL. I ordered quite a few new parts from Messicks, like: grill, rear lights, decals, headlights, shift knobs, floor mat.

My Dad and I did the paint job in about a week. We need to use the tractor next week, so I couldn't invest too much time and money in the paint job. Kubota brand paint is crazy expensive, so I got the Kubota Orange paint (Majic brand), and also the Steel Gray paint, plus hardener, and primer, all from Tractor Supply Co. The colors matched pretty good. The Orange spray paint kinda orange-peeled sometimes, so I got a gallon of it and brushed it on, and had better results with the brushed-on paint. The Steel Gray paint was great, spray or brush, both turned out good. It's not a professional restoration, but I'm happy with the results. Now back to work!

After primer, and first coat.

Last coat and decals added a few days later.

Very nice work.

Thanks for sharing.

Letting the PTO shaft hang off like that is a death sentence for someone.

REAL BAD HABIT>

Yeah, I know.
I figured somebody would say that. LOL
That picture was taken right when I bought the tractor from the seller, before I had a chance to get the tractor home. It was attached to a seed spreader, which the seller kept, and the shaft was seized onto the tractor. After I got it home I had to cut it off with a torch.

Looks great. This really makes it look sharp. Also it will prolong all the sheet metal by getting rid of the surface rust.

Killer RC,

You really need to change the rear tires!

Running a R1 and an R4 on it is hard on the differential.;)

Or maybe I'm wrong and that's just an odd R1 tread on the left side, it's just wore out.

Tractors do run much better and have better pulling power with matched treads on them.

The repaint look great!

You're right!

Two different R-1 tires on the front and one R-4 on the back??? In 2wd it wont be too much of a problem, but in 4wd it could be bad!

Looks like you might have two good tires and need 2 more that match.

Very Nice work! But please fix the tire situation!

I believe the backs are different, but the fronts are the same. Or is that what you meant?

In any case, it looks great. It is about the same vintage and original condition as my B2150, but while I like the look, I'm far too lazy to do that much work to something (and too cheap to spend the money) I'm going to be using and storing outside under an awning.

The fronts are the same I guess, but one just looks newer/more tread?

That odd ball R-4 on the rear as got to go though!

Absolutely. Could get real interesting when he engages the diff lock (and needs it) in loose ground... Might be almost like using the individual brakes as turning brakes, but your trying to go straight...

Very nice job, we have some in need of that sort of restoration, not likely to happen though.

If you want to make a donation to the BuyMeSomeNewTractorTires fund I'll be happy to take it. ;)
Good luck with that... :p
I completely understand. My 2150 came with truck ATs on the back. About the right size, and I originally thought (assumed) they were just turf tires, which is what the owner said. I actually wanted R4s, but was completely floored by the cost of those back tires (and the fronts are not cheap) in R1 or R4. I thought my 42" IROK rock crawler tires were expensive! Anyway, with the help of a very nice member on this board, I was able to get a good set of R1s at a price I could afford, but if not for that, I would probably have just made do with the LT ATs in the rear and worn out dry-rotted R1 fronts...
