restore B1600

Hello,

I'm Wout from Belgium and I bought a Kubota B1600 in 2013. I knew at the beginning that the head gasket was broken.
I have done the necessary to replace some parts (oilfilter/ head gasket/ Fuel Filter /airfilter/new oil) so the engine (D950) would start.

Unfortunately it was not only the head gasket that was ruined, also the cylinder head was broken.
I found another motor bloc D950 (fabricated after1991).


It took some time for the next step because we are also rebuilding our home.
I ordered the right gasket oil pan and other parts so I could start rebuilding.

Afterwards it seemed that the second motor bloc that I bought had another lever speedcontrol and no lever engine stop.

Also the first gasket oil pan was deliverd broken:

Afterwards, I needed to rebuild the lever fork of the governor group. This was only possible when opening the gear case group.




My distributor delivered the wrong gear case gasket(6). I hope it will be delivered on Friday correctly!

Wout it looks like you have a full time project on your hands,,, On the up side when its done you will have a good tractor, and people will be coming to you for information,, Cause your going to be the expert

The next step is to rebuild the flywheel.
Now I read that there are marks on it. I have a question on this: how can I see when the 1e cylinder is on top?

What is the first cylinder? From which side do you start to count?

An other question: How can I take of the thrust bearing?

It's done, I took off the thrust bearing using a pulley puller.

Which type of hydraulic oil do I need for the kubota B1600?

the engine is replaced and the two pieces are together

I have found the right oil : 15W40

but I have no idea what hydraulic oil I need for the hitch
10w30 Domax TD ,...?

You need Hydraulic fluid for the other oil, motor oil will damage things if you use it for the hitch and transmission.
Kubota UDT is the best to use, if you can't get it there you can use universal hydraulic fluid.

The B1600 ran good for 3 months.

After mowing the lawn yesterday, I have a new problem.
The gearbox is not working as it shoot be.

The first en rear gear are not working. I can put the gearhandle in the first and raer gaer buth the tractor doesn't move. on the other hand the 2e en 3e gaer are working fine.

How can i solve this problem?

just now following your progress, excellent work, could there be a bent shifting fork? Does it stall or freespin when placed in 1st or rev? Perhaps the teeth have chipped?
