Replacement FEL Control Box

As a follow up on previous post, I have a 185dt and I'm pretty sure that my hydraulic issue stems from the FEL control box, something to do with the power beyond. I'd just assume replace the box and was wondering what specs I should be looking for. From what I can see I need a 2 spool , 4 port, 3 position open center unit that has a relief pressure somewhere around 2000 psi and 3-5 GPM flow.
Am I off the Mark?

Sounds right to me (similar to my B6100D) -- are you planning to provide for power beyond?

I can't make any recommendations (yet), I'm still looking for options. From what I recall, the controls that can be configured for open/closed center as well as power beyond aren't necessarily more expensive than those that cannot be converted. (May have to do with quality, but I suspect it has more to do with greed vs. moving product.)

I'm curious why you wouldn't be looking into troubleshooting your control and cleaning or rebuilding it. I haven't done that myself, but have read enough to know that it is not costly, if the control only needs cleaning and new o-rings.

Best wishes and please keep us posted on your project!

Thanks for the response.
I did find that there was something wrong with the power beyond. It was restricting the return of fluid and causing the problem. The reason I wanted to switch control boxes was that I had changed the o rings and put in a new relief cartridge with no effect so I thought the spools were bad. As it turns out, all I had to do was remove the PB fitting and plug the port and everything works perfectly. I bought the tractor last October and had to do a complete engine re-build so I was real happy to have it all fired up and working yesterday!

That's really great news!

You've been here long enough to have learned what skeetz and Tomcat and even coachgeo say: "Without pics, it didn't happen!"
