Anyone have a recommendation on a new complete head to buy?
Not really a fan of the China clones.
Kubota new is pricy but seems to be a better option.
Machine shop pricing to do the work on my old head is very high.

Cost me a $150 to have a machine shop mill and magnaflux my head, I lath my valves and use an OEM head gasket. That has to be cheaper and better than what you're looking at.

How high is very high? I would expect $500- $750 for a head job using the original valves and guides. New valves and/or guides extra.

Yes, to do the valves yourself. You would probably need to purchase a kit with the guides in it, but it's really not that tough to do. I'm sure you can find plenty on YouTube to show how.
