I have a test for you take one of the balls out of an old coupler and run hardness test on it or smack it good with a hammer.
I would do your test but I don't have any old connectors. And I agree with your point.

The set up llike you proposed how are you going to keep the dirt from traveling back into the line once the pressure is released.
The idea is that the "made-up connector with ball-valve" (see picture in my first post) would be put in the FEL lines right after disconnect and ball valve remains closed, so no dirt is going to get in the hydraulic system. When you are ready to hook up the FEL, you crack open the ball-valve for a second to relieve any pressure then you remove the made-up coupler and install the FEL like normal.

The only thing keeping me from making this coupler I've been talking about, is that I'm cheap and I don't want to spend $10 per coupler. I may just by some wooden dowel first and see how that works. ;)

If you've been trying to connect the load with the tractor running, Save your money and try doing it with the tractor off and with reliving all the pressure off the Valve, also just pour some Ice water on the cylinders that will also lower the pressure to allow you to hook them up.

Tractor is not running when I do the reconnect (But I don't recall if I move the FEL control stick around before attempting reconnect. I need to pay attention to that step next time. I do it on the disconnect everytime).

Ice water may work but its not very practical. Having a tool, or dowel, or something storable in the tractor tool box is easier.

There is a company in one of the european countries that make a tool to relieve the pressure. It slips over the line behind the fitting and has a plunger that goes against the face of the connector. Then you squeeze the handle to release the pressure. It is used in the logging industry but the last I knew it wasn't being shipped to other countries. For the price of it I could buy a lifetime supply of dowels and have enough left for a lot of beer.

Yes, when you disconnect, turn off the tractor, go thru the routine of moving the joy stick around, then disconnect. Then when you go to connect, pull up to the attachment, and turn off the tractor and do the same thing, move the stick around and the pressure is relieved.

Mine did the same thing when I took the fel off in March and tried to put it back on on a 90 deg day. Moved the lever around etc to relieve pressure. All 4 connectors on loader had pressure on them. Mechanic at dealer said he had seen it before and if they came out they would simply crack lines and bleed pressure off. Simple enough and it worked. only time problem has occured think it was temp change. Not worth loosing sleep over.
