Where are you guys buying regulators from? I see ones on Amazon for $50 and Messick is selling for $130.

The regulator on my Campbell-Hausfeld compressor purchased from Tractor Supply was only $12. :geek:

The last one I bought from Amazon was a Denso just like the Kubota one. 1/4 the price. I would not be afraid of the Amazon regulator.

Used to 'gut' the regulators from old B&S engines on riders, using their 70's patent for the schematic, I'd upgrade all the semiconductors inside and add an extra 'heatsink'. Less than $10 in parts, and another $10 for epoxy.....long before 'cheap imports' came here. None ever failed.
One of those 'napkin challenges' I used to do...had a LOT of free lunches back then.

Off topic but I made my own phase detector for 3 phase just to see if I could copy the circuit in one. I assembled it in a plastic 22 ammo box and used it for years. Still have it but retired and no longer work with 480/277 etc.
Like you Jay it is solving the mystery sometimes.

I don’t have an electrical background but I am mechanically incline so while this cheap import is in I will have to play around with the old and see if I can make it happen.
