I am 88 years old and my ancient body is finding it difficult to refuel my big MX-5400 by wrestling 5-gallon cans of diesel onto the very top of my tractor and managing to insert the nozzle into the tiny tank pipe, while trying to balance myself on a wheel. I thought that I must be the only one who didn’t know some standard, easy way to do it. But after reading forum comments, apparently most everyone has this problem and that there is no one right, easy way to refuel. Anyway, here is my inexpensive solution in case it might appeal to others who, like me, have a small hill on their property——I used my frontend loader to create a drivable lane on or near the top of the hill and have leveled out another lane adjacent to and and directly below the above lane. I now fill up a 15 gallon tank, that sells for a little over $200, in the bed of my truck, at a gas station, drive it into position on the upper lane and park my tractor adjacent to the truck, on the lower land and simply gravity-fill my tractor tank with th attached 10’ long hose. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Pending the amount of yearly fuel usage will dicate how to go about adding fuel, meaning the more you use the more cost effective the delivery system. Consider one or more 55 gallon drums and 12 volt fuel drum mount transfer pump with nozzle. Install a polarized connector on your tractor and pump. take the drum/drums fill them with off road fuel and purchase a chain lift, install a 3/8 inch grab hook on your bucket lift the drum and set them in drum dollys ( get the ones with the casters extended ). Just my $.02
