My only intent at suggesting something different than teflon tape was to help others avoid a pitfall of tape. If the connection is clean, the tape applied properly, and the joint never disassembled in the future….then likely no harm will accrue. I suspect Kubota never expects a teflon-tape installation to present a disassembly-problem within the warranty-period and that is taken into consideration when they use it. They also will not share in the blame if the joint is disassembled in the future and some unknowledgeable or careless wrench-jockey doesn’t clean all the debris remaining from the previous use of tape.
The aircraft-comparison was only to indicate the truth of the described problem of tape.
I only hoped to prevent future troubles for owners…or the next owner….of the machine.
