Rear weight options

Other than filling my tires with ballast what are the best choices for adding additional weight to the rear of my 4630.
I plan to move snow either with a front blade or blower , to be discussed later in another thread.
I want to keep the rear profile as short as possible as I will also be in the woods and removing snow in rather tight quarters so a tucked in weight is preferable.

bolt on wheel weights. u can buy or make. my buddy made some lead
ones and used a truck brake drum for the mould. lead was wheel weights.
i have to add more weight too and i plan on useing grader blades. i,ma gona
bolt them on to the drawbar. old grader blades are free to me.

I do have a drawbar [it is not on the machine so I had not considered it as a weight bearing platform}
That does offer some possibilities.

I don't have my manual near by but I would think a little about how much weight is too much on the draw bar. The draw bar can pull a lot of weight but what would be the max of a tongue weight

Good point, as you can see I am a tootal newb when it comes to tractors.

how much does a roto tiller weigh?? i,m guessing at least 300 lbs, and thats how much i plan on useing.

I'm just home from work and it's late, too late to check on my tractor stats. For the sake of curiosity though I'll reference my manual and update in the morning what the tongue weight limits are for my particular tractor.

My owners manual covers the B7410, 7510 and 7610.

Max drawbar load (tongue weight) is 300 kg (660 Lbs)

Trailer loading weight Max capacity is 1000 kg (2210 Lbs)

just might get to try it out tomorrow mon. anyhooooo, i just got done
installing 320 lbs ballast. no arnold shwarchnager don,t live here. 40 lbs
at a time i can handle. i just love the cannarys song. cheap-cheap cheap.

Verrrrrry cool ingenuity! Like they say, necessity is the mother of all inventions. Lack of funds be damned! Tractor owners seem to have that knack of making anything out of scrap. Good job on that ballast!

Looking at the picture it appears the 3ph is taking the brunt of the load while the draw bar is more of a stabilization.

Don't forget some pictures while you are working the snow.

Hows about a 55 gallon barrel on your 3pt and fill it with sand of even cement,, Just a thought

Ok, now I'm on the same page as you. I was thinking of the drawbar that is attached to the bottom of the gearbox and wondering how you were gonna get all that weight on there

traildust; look at the pics again. all the weight is on the drawbar,
the top straps are there to keep the stack upright. i left myself enough
room to add another 200lbs if i have to.

What seems to be the problem with filling the tires?
I filled mine, a B7200 and works great, is neat and tidy, it does not block the use of the 3 pt hitch or over stress it. I picked up a valve stem adaptor at TCS for $15 and a drill mounted fluid pump at Princess Auto for $9. If you use windshield washer fluid it won't freeze, it's not corrosive and it is environmentaly friendly. You can add wheel weights if you more. At 75% full each wheel has considerate weight.

I did get my rear tires filled with rimguard at 500# per tire. So that is a good start. I am also now considering a 3ph mounted drum of cement.
I also realize I will likely need some front weight to counter balance the heavier rear

I have a three quater drum of cement off of my 3pt. I don't have power steering yet and filled tires doesn't take any load off of the front axel. I also like it because if I don't want the extra weight I can remove it. Lots of pros and cons for both. Just have to decide what works best for you.

Get a box blade for rear weight, it will give you all the weight you need and is a great tool for many jobs as well. Look on home page for ideas on box blade video, it is great. I use mine all the time and you can pull/push snow with it also.
