Hello all,
Just wanted to share a problem with you that I had with my rear mount snowblower on my BX 2370 incase anyone has a similar situation before you buy a rear mount.:(
For the winter I keep my BX in my garage. I need to fold the ROPS down to do this. With the ROPS down, when you raise the TPH to pick up the blower you will smash the chute rotation shaft handle into the folded ROPS. Even when you know it will hit and you're as careful as you can :eek:be you will still bend/break the rotation shaft handle into the ROPS.
The answer for me was to switch to front mount blower at a considerable loss in value.
To fix this you can switch to hydro rotation, or remove the ROPS all together, but I also have an Original Tractor Cab enclosure so just switching to the front blower made more sense going forward for me.

Not to sound like a safety sam here but you are suppose to put the ROPS in the upright and locked position before you do anything while running,, and you wouldnt have had to buy a front mounted blower,,, 30 seconds of your time is all it would take. And removing the ROPS,,, well shold something happen God forbid,, your family might have one duce of a time collecting any ins you might have, WHY well because you defeated a safety device. It aint worth 30 seconds of your time to put it back up

I can't put it back up-It's down for the season and is not needed for my flat snow blowing area. If Kubota didn't think people would fold it to put it in their garage they wouldn't allow it to be folded! To many lawyers caused it to be unreasonable high so it wouldn't fit in a standard garage like most people store them.

The ROPS is a pinch point that rubs directly on the tractor cab so I'm not willing to prematurely wear out a $1,000 cab either, nor is it a 30 second thing since the cab rests on the ROPS. In the spring when the tractor goes back into the rear shed and the cab is removed for its other duties it will have its full ROPS in position to do what its supposed to.

The ROPS is ridiculously sized and should be redesigned to more of a lower, roll cage type set up so it fits under standard garage doors.

Gulfmp, I agree with you on your comments on the ROPS. Too many lawyers!

I was at a Kubota dealership about 5 weeks ago. In their yard was a Kubota tractor, I think was an L3800. Setting right next to it (5' away) was a Kioti. The Kioti was a 40 HP tractor, about 7 years old. The ROPS on the Kioti was a good 18-20" lower then the Kubota.

I asked the salesman if he knew why there was such a difference in the height of the ROPS. He shook his head sideways, kinda shrugged his shoulders, and made a twitch with his face! I think he was expressing, he just didn't know!:D

I might just go back over there to get a picture.

Here is a question. I have a BX about 6 years old, bought new. Garage door opening is 7.0 feet, but actual clearance is maybe 6 ft. 8 inches or so, depending on door stops, etc. The BX ROP is 5 ft. 7 inches high and not a fold over. Now if this height is from the factory not shortened, why are the fold-over styles higher??? If I was an owner of the fold-over, you can bet that top section would be made shorter and I sincerely doubt any accident would result in any different situation than with full height. It's my tractor and I don't want the problems that come with extra height.

I agree. I will be cutting my ROPS down so if fits in the garage without folding. That's the first project as soon as I remove the cab for the season.

I measured the ROPS on a BX25D on the lot a few days ago. If I went the BX route, I would take my band saw to the upper ROP and whack off 2.5", grind some bevels and re-weld. But I trust my welds more than I trust most factory welds.

Could a smartly placed strap or bracket be installed to limit the top portions drop distance to be just enough to get thru the door but not so low to interfere with implements?
