Ran the B2710 for about 8hrs straight today; 4 hours on the hoe and another 4 on the back blade.

When parking I noticed the rear end was warm...maybe hot. Being this my first HSD tractor is this normal???

I was going to ask for clarification!

Perfectly normal. Between the use of hydraulics and the rear axle, all the mechanical inefficiencies show up as heat in the fluid.

Get one of those harbor freight laser thermometers and point it at your rear end. Let us know what it reads. If it is 98.6 you pointed it at the wrong rear end! :p

Years ago I recall checking my hst temps, and after several hours of work found the case to be in the 180 deg range.

If kubota felt this was an issue, they would have provided a probative temp gauge connected to your rear end.

When parked in the sun, the tractor seat can also become quite warm, use caution before simply mounting your tractor.

Lawn mower manufacturers provide, caution, hot surface self stick labels, for the muffler etc. If the condition persists w/ your tractor, perhaps you might obtain a label, apply it to your rear end to warn others.

I have a deere lawn tractor. It has a cooling fan mounted above the transaxle. Perhaps you could duplicate that innovation, and install a fan next to your rear end?

On the contrary, i'm enjoying this very much!

I only have tractor experience with my old iseki and i rented a 4310 for 4 hours once.

So, after riding my hoe half the day, plowing the second half and then enjoying some bourbon in the evening i figured i'd just ask the question about my hot rear end.

You guys make me laugh!!

I will not participate further, since sometimes the “Mrs.” looks over my shoulder on OTT....

We will celebrate 29 years of marriage Sunday. At least 14 were good....maybe more....[emoji3]

I try not to talk about the hoe ridin’, plowing, and all the hot rear ends I do when she’s not around.....[emoji12]
She worries I work too much!

PS: oh wait... I get it now.....you guys weren’t just talking about tractors!![emoji3]
Proves you can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the farm off the boy![emoji12]

Greeno,
It doesn't look like you have the top link reinforcing plate on it, you really should get one, as that hoe in that kind of setup can do some serious damage to your rear end if it isn't installed. ;)

Yeah, I learned that on Monday casually reading the manual...HD toplink bracket is due to my local dealer tomorrow. Catastrophe dodged, I hope. Kinda weird the previous owner never had one, he bought it new from the dealer I bought it used from.

A subframe is on my wishlist; but man its either a big project or a big bill.

Wolf man, can u post a pic of that top link reinforcing plate or describe where it’s supposed to be a little more please sir? Think the L3130 has a similar hook up to this one to the bh. One pin through and another one that kinda acts as a guide or rest point where it hooks to the rear.
