My new M7040 only raises my landpride 8' blade off the ground maybe 12". Am i doing something wrong or is this all thi higher it will go? If i go through a shallow ditch, the blade scrapes when i start up the side.

I'm not real familiar with the M series, but on the L series the verticle lift arms have multiple holes in the lower part where they pin to the lower lift arms. When I put my blade on I have to use the top holes in the arms in order to raise the the blade high enough.

On my M5030SU the left lift arm I have to adjust the connecting rod I guess you call it between the short arm that actually does the lifting and the 3pt lift arm. Then the right side turn it using your crank to shorten the distance between the top arm and the 3pt. arm. Also you might have your top link out to far you might adjust it to shorten it also. After you get it adjusted for your equipment most people don't have to bother it any more on the left side.

Most of the land pride stuff has holes for both category I and category II 3 point hitch. M7040 has category II right????? If you've got the top link in the category I hole on the blade it will cause the tail of the blade to lift less than the vertical movement of the lower links. That combined with a top link adjustment that could be a little long would lead to a low lift. I'd think it should hike that thing 2 feet or more off the ground (my M4500 will). My M4500 also has 3 top link mounting holes on the tractor (lowest hole on the tractor and highest hole on the implement combine to raise the tail of the implement more) don't know if the 7040 has that or not (wish I owned something that new so I could find out:))

Ok, got it figured out. Set it up as cat 11 now instead of one. Put the bushings in that the dealer didnt and lowered the center link pin on the tractor. No problem with raising it now! Got the 3rd cylinder ordered so i can controll everything from the cab. Thanks for the replies.:)

Steve,

Thanks for the offer to help,
I have a similar issue with my M7040 three point hitch.
I guess according to what you said it must be set for category II right now since it will not lift my category I post hole digger attachment more than about 15" off the ground without the auger bit attached to it.

I read your post but I was not able to figure it out as of yet on my own.

Any help is appreciated!

I am getting confused here by the Cat 1/Cat2 issues. From the internet:

Category 1 3 Point Hitch<- - - Most common
This category is intended for tractors 20 to 45 Horsepower
Toplink Pins are 3/4" diameter
Lift Arm Pins are 7/8" diameter

Category 2 3 Point Hitch
This category is intended for tractors 55-95 Horsepower
Toplink Pins are 1" diameter
Lift Arm Pins are 1 1/8" diameter

So, a cat 2 implement should not fit a cat 1 arm. A cat 1 implement will be really loose in a cat 2 arm.
Unless I'm sorely mistaken - which I often am - you cannot make a cat 2 implement fit cat1. You might be able use bushings to get from a cat 1 implement to cat 2. But that should not change the geometry.

You can adjust the top arm shorter to bring the blade up higher. At the same time you will change the way the blade cuts into the dirt.
You can also move the lift links from the 3-pt hydraulic arms down to the implement arms to a different in/out set of holes in the implement arms, if you have them. The lifting links themselves may have a couple of height adjustments. And, you can pull the hydraulic arms off, and put them back on to a higher spline notch. The adjustments to the lower arms or links do not change the cutting geometry.
I adjust the top hitch bar a lot for changing the height or cut of the rear blade. On one occasion I moved the hydraulic arms a notch or two. On the old 185 I had two sets of holes for the lifting link on the lower implement arms; the inside most set gives you the most lift/drop, and the outside set gives you the most lift power.
