guys my L4060 has been great so far and we have been brush cutting my pasture and notice that the RCR 1872 is clogging up. it has the big band of steel rear guard.....seems it doesn't let anything out of it as it's going along....cutting heavy 4 foot grass it just clumps up every 2-3 minutes making you lift the deck to let clippings out. talked to the dealer and he said you have to piece meal a rear chain guard upgrade together a part at a time. and he said it's like 400 bucks. considering we don't mow anywhere near anything or anyone in this pasture. what could I do instead of swallowing 400 bucks for some chain guards....

this year it has been next to impossible. but it's mostly because the place hasn't been maintained at all in probably 5-8 years.
I have the same model with an l4600. I had this issue and just took the rear metal guard off.

Remove the rear guard and tell family to stay clear(like 100 feet) when your using the cutter. And make sure the homeowners insurance is paid.

I have chain guards front and rear on my RCR2672, much better.
Removing the rear cover will work well if it's not used around anyone or anything that can be damaged. We have that setup on our Woods DS1260, but I've seen some scary stuff come out.

For 4' grass, you should be bush hogging. RM finish mowers are just not able to handle the debris, IMHO...

Thats a lot of grass. Start high and work your way down. No way to deal with that amount of pulp.

Find a neighbor with the right equipment to come over and cut it and bale it even if it makes crummy hay at least it will be down to a level you can manage after that. Should be cheaper than replacing parts on your mower.
An RCR1872 is a rotary cutter or bush hog! Ok what speeds are you cutting at and how close or height of cut are you at?
According to the manual position blades parallel with tractor or front to back and adjust the pitch of the deck or front blade down 1" lower than than the rear blade or "loss of power and clumping will occur" page 16 of the owners manual.

that may be the issue. I kind of thought the rear was set lower than it needed to be. and correct. it is a brush cutter. I have a scag cheetah for finishing. usually running on medium low or high depending on cutting conditions (if it's tall it's in low.) until I get the rocks out, I don't want someone tearing up their expensive hay equipment on the rocks. once they are out, I may look at getting the equipment myself.
