I have a RCR 1872 Rotary Cutter which came with the property when we moved in last fall, hence no history of the machine. Haven't had the need to use it yet, but will be soon. An earlier thread reminded me to perform a slip test which is recommended after long term storage to check the condition of the slip clutch. The test failed so I proceeded to disassemble and was amazed at what I saw, or in this case didn't see.
I discovered only 1 fiber disc, the one on the left in figure 5-4 was missing. Also missing is the clutch plate (middle right side of figure 5-4).
I am not sure about ring #10 in the picture below. It appears to be there but it is much smaller in diameter than the diameter of the fibre disc.
Here are two pics of part 9 from above. It appears to have that ring, but smaller diameter than the disc.
So question 1 is that the right ring and is it suppose to be smaller in diameter than the disc,
and question 2 is how to identify the driveline to ensure spring height is correct as shown in figure 5-5?
I have already ordered 2 new fiber plates and the inner clutch plate, and help on these questions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and enjoy your weekend.
