RCK60B-23BX 60" mower deck on BX2350 needs help

I traded in my BX2350 for a new tractor. Dealer let me keep trade in until new one came in. As luck would have it when mowing the gear box started smokin due to my lack of maintenance (low on oil in gear box) and I will be responsible for fixing it. My question is does this situation normally require a new gear box or could it be repaired as I dont really want to spend a couple of hundred dollars on an estimate and then end up buying a new gear box?

Depends on the damage. At the least, it’ll need new bearings, but its rebuild-able. New gear box is big $.

Thanks TB I know it needs help. Was afraid the dealer would want to take easy way out and go for a new gear box. I just dont want to go for the rebuild and then find out it needs new gear box.
