R14 vs r1

New here, but not new to forums. I searched and still undecided.
Looking at a lx2610, I see r14s come in 2 sizes and really like the look of the larger tires BUT the option for a mid mount mower down the line is gone. I do have a 3pt finish mower so whatever. I'm not sure id use this to mow anyway. 80% be used in the yard, but our cabin is on a very hilly/ rocky area. A long step climb straight to the top. I'm unsure how the r14s would be on the hills. We do make it up with a riding mower but it's...interesting.
My older tractors all have R1s and don't do anything to my lawn.my backhoe that has r4s and i hate them so that's out.
The larger r14s are also 800$ more.
Wondering what the r14 are like in wet conditions basically

R14's were designed for what your looking to use them for.

R14s are an attempt to blend the R4 and R1 tires. If your R1s are holding up in your rocks and not causing any issues to your yard, I’d go with them. One other advantage is that on many models, the wheels are adjustable width on R1s and not on R14s. That will help on stability.

These are the larger R14’s on my Lx2610. They impressed me here. This is a usually dryish creek bed I was clearing privet of. They did cake up like you can see, but they kept pulling. I miss this little tractor.

Here is the MX, just a bit away from the LX picture. Still in a muddy sloppy mess, but the R4’s did good here, I think due to weight of tractor.

Haven't had the R14s in actual mud yet but have in wet earth. Better than R4s. Better side bite than slickish R4s for that.

To me, these things should be called R34s. More like a combo of turf and R4 to me. Have had both. Only had R1s very briefly on a Gravely before I sold it.

I have the next size up R14 on my L and I can tell you IMO they are really pretty good in the deep mud.

Here in PA we have had bipolar weather with a lot of hot/cold switches. The area in front of my woodpile is about a 2 feet deep pit. Only had one instance over the entire winter where I wasn't able to make it up a pretty serious slope in the greasy mud.

I got to run a few tractors that were used for boom mowing, fel work and a few rear attachments. One deere and a case. They had nokian ( not sure on the spelling) tires that looked right like the r14 style. I was very impressed with them. The wore and rode very nice on the road and had very good traction off road. Actually liked them so much I got a set for the b7510 I recently purchased.
Tin is off for a repaint.

I have the R14T on my LX2610 and have yet(not for lack of trying)got it stuck. I went with the smaller size as I have a mid mount mower and it is used on hills, so, the smaller tire helps with the center of gravity being lower. I take the tractor in snow, mud, sand, lawn, and gravel.

I have hilly property, driveway is over 20% grade in one area, and the R-14's on my LX3310 (smaller size) have been great in the spring mud and zero issues moving snow all winter without chains. Did well on my paved driveway and the gravel road to my shed at the rear of my property.
