Hello all,

Just bought a L3800 today. Will take delivery on Tuesday. I plan on using it to bush hog my yard every two weeks. I am coming from using an 8N. On my 8N I used a pair of stay chains to support the bush hog because my 3ph would drift down and drag it on the ground. With the chains I could let the 3ph all the way down and the bush hog would still be supported at the correct height. My question is, with this new tractor would I still need to use these stay chains, or are the hydraulics so much better that they just do not drift down once I set the height? If I don't need them I could give them to a friend at work who has a Ferguson with the same problem as my 8N. Thanks.

My L3200 3pth does not drift. I'd save a piece of chain for the upper link, however.

No need for the chains I have an L3830 and have no problems with hydrolics creeping, I also had an 8N you going to love the diffrence

Yeah you should be fine without and drifting down. Matter of fact most new tractor's have what they call draft control where you can set and lock the 3pt to a certiant height so it wont go down any lower.

Not a problem with this model.
