Yesterday while mulching leaves, I seemed to notice the BX drifting a bit. By that I mean holding a line and slowly veer to one side or the other so I have to correct to retain my line. Tie rod ends seem tight, I can feel no movement in the rods. Now is there a steering box adjustment to take up any slack ,or is it a pump and cylinder and is there any adjustment? There does not seem to be any play in the steering wheel. So let it go boys

Check your tire pressure up front. If nothing is loose or mechanically damaged, check the air pressure. Tires have equal wear?

It's Hydrostatic / Hydraulic steering no adjustment.
How old or how many hours?
If the steering cylinder center seal is bad it will drift.
There is some tests you can do if you want to confirm that is the issue.

Well, you should! :D

I was knee deep in tearing apart my dual carbs on my hot rod one time and my non-mechanical buddy innocently asked, "Are you sure you have gas in it?"

Yeah, I had coasted in on the last of my fumes the evening before, and hadn't realized it. 😡

Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it! :ROFLMAO:

I have a used but good steering cylinder to replace the one on my BX 2200, but I haven’t got around to doing it this year so I’ll probably do it next spring, if I get around to it!😂

Mine has been like that for many years. I’m so used to it now that occasionally I have turn the wheel a half turn or more before the tires start changing angle…

My current worry is that if I replace the cylinder and the tractor wants to track straight, my dominant arm will be so used to swinging back-and-forth that the tractor still will not track straight, and I’ll just have a different problem to fix, but it won’t be the tractor anymore…

I can't remember which tractors have power steering vs hydraulic steering. On one of my "upgrades" I encountered the change. The 4240 has hydraulic. The suicide knob gradually relocates itself. IIRC power steering wheel centers have a logo that's always right side up when going straight. Hydraulic steering wheels have a logo without a "top and bottom".
