My question is, whats preventing it from being dropped where you want it?
If a flat deck truck (picture one designed for this purpose) cant get it where you need it, how will it be possible to drag it with a tractor?
Worried about trashing a lawn or something? A few ruts would be easier to fix.had a flat deck tow truck drop one exactly where i wanted it.

that's a great idea actually. especially if you have a good sized winch....which can make it easy.
If there is room for a tow truck to pull the container into position, those guys are hungry and love cash! The pulling tends to lift the front a bit and it wont dig in. If there is no room for a tow truck, but there is a big tree somewhere past where the container is to go again the tow truck can work miracles with a snatch block. Traveling charges and the usual extras are not often brought up if you are a bit flexible with when they arrive.
The tow truck with a rotator boom is more useful than a crane in many circumstances. They can lift and they can pull very hard.
When my Kubota sank into a swamp 400 feet from the road, the tow truck had a long enough cable to winch me out with no jerking or yanking required, just slow and easy. Anyone who tried to come close to rescue me got stuck. The tow truck winched out three vehicles in total for $220 cash.
If there is a local coffee show look for one there when they are not working and may be hungry for a few dollars. Bring photos of the job with you so you can explain what you want done and a map to show where it is located.

Our neighbor had a load of blast rock he wanted to get to his shore line and me, I was showing off just how great my new tractor was. Less than 20 hours on it. All the other neighbors have BX kubota's for grass cutting and snow blowing and I wanted everyone to know I had the Biggest
We have had a cottage there for 60 or more years and at 70 years of age I should have recognized the condition of the terrain.
The water level fluctuates up to 4 feet vertically during a year and at that time it was near the top of the range which meant the water backed up underground so the ground water and the lake were at the same level.
This was all hidden by the sod which, on the first trip with a load of stone, seemed a little wavy but I carried on blindly.
Next trip, the front wheels split the floating sod and the game was up.
I lifted the front wheels and put rocks and planks under them but they just disappeared in to the muck. Next the rear went down. I got out in a bad state.
I have been around stuck vehicles all my life and knew getting my tractor out of there was not going to be easy. However, my neighbor, having great faith in the pulling power of his GMC SUV insisted he could do it. Well he had to be pulled out by the flat bed lumber truck delivering material to his water front.
My neighbor encouraged the lumber truck to have a go with me. Now it was stuck.
It continued like that until I went and called the towing guys who had moved my shed.
They were very considerate of my new tractor. Took the time to thread a synthetic sling into my drawbar mount so no paint would be scratched and started to pull. Nice and slow it came out.
It took several hours with a pressure washer getting thick gooey mud out of all the crevasses in the tractor underside and on the wheels.
My tractor just previous to this Kubota was a Nuffiled 465 2WD so perhaps I was a bit too unrealistic what 4 wd could do on a tractor.
Thankfully my neighbor paid the tow truck guy with cash so everyone was happy. Don't know if my CAA (in canada) would have accepted the bill and was glad I did not have to try and make a claim,
For many years I had a Volvo 4x4 military truck where you could lock all three differentials and if all else failed it had an underside mounted transmission drive powered winch which could send cable out the front or rear of the vehicle so you could always get out provided there was something to anchor the winch to.

Your tow companies work cheap! I don't think $220 would cover the fuel surcharge that they hit us with!
A few years ago the State of Mass rented a JD160 excavator from my shop. They called a few hours later to ask what would happen if they "hypothetically" sank the excavator in a lake.........I can tell you what happens, about a $30k recovery bill!!!

I work in construction industry and we often move heavy equipment ( 12000 lbs or more) on concrete surfaces with just man power and sometimes a chain come a long. As long as you have rollers ( pipe) under it , I would think you would be fine.

Wow! I didn't think I would generate so many replies. The building is on a city street. The container delivery guy has a long truck not a roll back. I need to get the container up a driveway apron. Yes it is Donna TX in the Rio Grande Valley, very flat. I have a Jeep Cherokee that I plan on using on one end of the container and the BX25 on the other end. I want a small tractor so I can get out of the space after placing the container, it won't be wide enough for the Jeep. I'm hoping to get it lined up and with the tractor pulling and the Jeep pushing we will be successful.

I've never moved one of those, so excuse my ignorance.
I think pushing/pulling will be tough enough - the maneuvering part - not so sure how that'll work without jacking/picking it up.
If I were to really tear up my road doing that, the county would be on my ass for repair $$, and I've been friends with the County Highway Superintendent for 20 years. He'd probably charge me double for knowing better!

The only thing I have ever seen move one of those containers besides the trailer that delivers them is a good sized excavator.
If you can get the container squared to the drive and set it on 3 or 4 pieces of 6" steel pipe to fit the entire width of the container it will move easily.
Take your time and keep it square to the building next to it. As you push it you will free up a pipe. Put that one on the other end, and repeat. When you get it in position, jack up the container enough to get the pipes out.
You could attach a couple of tug-a-war ropes to the far end and have the Karate students pull it (they might out pull that BX25)!
Might see if you could rent a couple of these.

Don't know if 6" is required - but the pipe is going to need to be tall enough to make the driveway apron at the curb cut...4" MIGHT work - but I bet 6 WILL work.

I have a story, as all us old folks do that follows along those lines.
I agreed to go to Syracuse New York with a friend to pick up an old motorcycle he had purchased in California and was being flown to a freight company for him to pick up so he could look after the export from the USA and the import into Canada. My friend is well off but cheap. He can find a a heritage bike in cardboard boxes and pay $40,000 for it but drive around in a old car towing a trailer both of which have seen better days. Getting close to Syracuse, which is like a 5 to 6 hour drive from where we live a front wheel bearing gets very noisy and soon it is very apparent it wont take us home. A shop which will do the repairs right away is found and they send a tow truck to haul us to the shop. While in the truck my friend is engaged in an extensive personal conversation by the driver that I perceived as a financial means test while my friend felt he had just met a kindred spirit.
The reality check came at the repair shop which was only about a 5 minute tow away. The driver said he had to call his boss to find out what to charge my friend. He wanted $500 in American cash or he would tow the car to their yard. We were being kidnapped and help for ransom. My friend had to go into the repair shop, work a deal with the shop to get cash off his credit card and pay for the tow.
I later told my friend how stupid he was talking about the business he owned, the boat he had, the nice location his home was in. He just confirmed his ability to pay and was charged accordingly. If he had played the role befitting the age of his car and condition of his trailer and how he was only there to pick up a family heirloom from a recently deceased grandparent who was a WW2 vet, the towing price would have been a fraction of what he was charged. We were foreigners and the tow guys knew we would not come back to make trouble for them with any licensing agency.

When I moved to Frisco I had a forklift come and unload a 20 container that had a house full of stuff in it. The roll back tucks push them with their beds, not even the whole truck!
