Yesterday I was shifting the pto from high to low and in doing so I think the pin or something broke inside, it is stuck in high and the lever moves freely, like it isn't connected to anything, I am thinking the worst and will have to split the tractor to get to the area where the lever connects inside. Would that be a correct assumption. It is on a 1983ish L345DT. Thanks for the help.

I think you can take the top cover off and get the linkages back in place. You should probably get a Work Shop Manual (WSM) to walk you through the steps to reinstall it since you will need to align the gear shifters and the PTO shifter at the same time.

Not on that model, the PTO selector is behind that section of the transmission.
