PTO shaft

I just bought an L3901HST. I had a 3301 for several years. On my 3301 the PTO shaft had knurling that matched up with the attachment shaft and then locked into place. On this 3901 the PTO shaft is smooth. Am I missing something here?

See if it has a plastic cover that is solid over it.

fwiw I always put that back on when I remove a pto powered implement. Clean is good. Dirt is very bad.

I happen to lose that cover, does anyone know where to get a replacement. I feel like I have looked everywhere for it.

1st stop... the manufacturer of the PTO shaft....
2nd stop...hardware store for 3" and 3.5" PVC.
3rd .... run without it.....
