hahahhah. ........You beat me to it.....Yeah, as others have expressed, I’m sure it’s just a bit snug.
I’m I’d probably try putting a little “m-a-n” on it, and it’ll pop right off.
Scoring it with a razor knife also would allow it to pop loose.
spins freely. part pics do not show the cap is threaded. seems to be a pressure fitted part with no access unless I remover the PTO Shaft Cover.Huh, never seen one other than the semi-soft black plastic kind. Are you sure it's not stuck on with excess paint from the factory? Factory paint can make spin on filters nearly impossible to remove at times...many threads on THAT problem.
A picture would be very helpful.
same here, never heard of such a thingAm amazed you even have one. Never had a tractor new or used that came with a pto cap.

I'm quite familiar with the "cap". Here's what one looks like and it simply slides off. Might want to avoid damaging it as you attempt removing it.no threads on "cap". threads are on cover. not the same thing
Mine came with a cap and it’s nice because it keeps the shaft clean when not in use. But it is some kind of rubbery plastic that goes on and off easily.same here, never heard of such a thing
My MX cover is like you describe for your L. I wonder if the OP’s unit is threaded and he’s trying to pull it straight off like the cover on your L?All three of my tractors have a PTO cap. The 8N’s is threaded on to a large diameter tread to the housing well clear of the PTO shaft, like @ferguson. The B’s is like the 8N, but plastic with a much courser thread. The L’s is like the one pictured above, a reasonably snug slightly flexible plastic sheath directly on the PTO shaft itself.
