And looking at some of those bends in the cage, it's been worked hard!

There were a few New Hollands around here that look like that a couple of years ago. They were being used to clear under power lines where it hadn't been cleared for several years. They even had the exhaust routed to the rear of the cage, and it looks like that one does too.

I don't know about you guys, but that looks like a very uncomfortable place for the operator to sit. Not because it lacks creature comforts, but because branches and "stuff", bent back by the metal protection bars, will inevitably "snap back" into the cab as they come past the door openings. I'm thinking the operator likely gets a pretty regular smack in the face from branches. This is also a fairly common problem on machines like Timberjack skidders and forwarders. The operator needs to wear head/ear/eye/face protection.

Still, can you imagine driving that tractor down the main street of your local town? Bet you'd get some very interesting looks! :)

The kid sent me some pictures of dozers they use out on the left coast. They use then to clear brush and other things in the fire cuts when they get over grown and when they are pushing fire brakes. All over like that, extruded metal and bracing, guy told her its not so much to keep from getting smacked with brush as it is to keep the snakes out

You see a lot of Tractors like that in orchards, for running between the trees.

Tractors protected like that were used for servicing the tung oil tree orchards we used to have in abundance here in South MS. The limbs hung pretty low. The grass had to be cut and the rows kept clean so the nuts could be gathered for processing.
There is not one orchard like that any more. (That I know of) A synthetic oil put 'em out of business.
