Well....that was one harrowing experience. I applaud you for handling it as well as could be done.

Day to day we all get caught up in our activities and don't often stop to count our blessings. Wild that a freakish accident nearly took your life (right in front of your Grandson). None are guaranteed our next breath.

But glad you were spared and pray that your recovery is swift and complete. And YES....there is a loving God.

hahaha....I suppose it would seem that way after my ordeal, but my handle was just from a running joke.

Years ago, there was a shooting range near me, and believe it or not, its name was "Hunts with Double"??????

So a friend of mine and I were shooting the breeze (with a few drinks) and we were discussing what a stupid name that was, so in the "fog of drinking" we unofficially renamed it "Runs With Scissors"

The range is long gone, but "Runs With Scissors" lives on.

You are very lucky to be alive, and those EMTs will have a story to tell about how some guy tried to commit harri karri with a mixing paddle and live to talk about it. Falling is a common cause of older people losing their lives. In my EMT experience, I have run into these types of accidents and usually, they are fatal because the hospital that knows how to treat the wound is a long way off. Just keep an eye out for any red streaks indicating an infection. You are one very very very lucky person.

We're all free to believe or not believe what we want in our attempt to understand the world that we live in. For me, proof of, or at least the suggestion of the existence of some omnipotent being would have to come in the form of the grout stirrer turning into an ice cream cone right before you landed on it.

reminds me. I had a guy stop by last week, wednesday to be exact, dropped off a 4 wheeler for me to work on. I finished it Friday and called him. No answer. Ok whatever. Left message. Got a call Saturday, he was in the hospital. Apparently they're building a deck on the back of the house and he cut his fingers off with the saw. Showed up Monday to pick up the ATV, hands bandaged up. I drove it onto the trailer and tied it down for him. He could've just said hang onto it until I can get better but no, he was going stir crazy with nothing to do but mope around feeling sorry for hisself. That would be me. I get a little sick and don't do nothing and depression sets in. I need to be busy doing, something. Even doing dishes or laundry is better than sitting around with nothing to do.
