Thank you. Do you think I should do 90% of the base price or 90% of the total price that I paid with tax? The price I put on the spreadsheet was actual price not the out the door price
I'd start at 90% of what another buyer would pay to get that exact same setup.

From what I've seen I don't think it'll sell at that price, but you can always reduce and you can't increase.

My logic is that someone buying a new one (for what would be 10% more) would get:
  • Factory warranty
  • No concerns about previous owner, and whether they have caused damage to the machine or maintained it poorly
  • Potential for factory financing
  • If they want slightly different options than you chose, they can get the exact options they want
I think those things are worth more than 10%. At 20% you would probably get more interest.

I also have a theory that tractors mostly sell for what you paid for them. New tractors get more expensive, old tractors stay the same price. Probably that's also about the 10% that we're talking about.

But having said that, a lot of people have no idea what these things cost new, and may not pay attention to the difference between MSRP and actual out the door prices. If you list it at 10% off new, and it sells, then you've done well.

Unfortunately, looking at other listings of similar equipment doesn,t really tell you much. They are all asking prices, which vary greatly all over the map. It is hard to know if they actually ever sell it, or not. Is it paid for in full, or can the buyer take over the payments ? A lot of things determine selling price. How bad do you need it gone real soon ? Times are getting tougher each day. A lot of folks cann,t come up with 15-20K cash. Dealers are easier to get credit from, so they have a great advantage.

I find the "used market" an interesting/frustrating place.......I recently signed up for that FB Marketplace thing and wow.....

There is lots of stuff out there, as well as, a "crack smoking epidemic" apparently.

Personally, there is no way I am paying 80-90% of "new value" for anything....

But that's just a personal thing. Financially it probably makes sense, but I am am a "buy it new and drive it until the wheels fall off" kind of guy with one or 2 exceptions.....

Truck-----Bought new in 2006 and still driving it at 270+K...
VW Jetta-----Bought new 2004 and sold it with 300+K 3'ish years ago
Van----Bought Used------just turned 190K
L2501-----Bought new.....we will see
House----bought new, still there 25 years later.....

RWS, just wait until you TRY to use the FBMP search 'engine' ! THEN you'll really be FRUSTRATED !!!!!!!
For 'giggles' type in 'Kubota BX23S', a 'page' of results is 50(?) ads. count how many ARE BX23s or really related to them.

FYI
truck, '97 F150, bought in '99 ,still have it, 150,000 KM on it this week
house, bought in 1985,paid off in '88 while unemployed, still here
BX23S, bought 2018, have 1400hrs on it,one day I might take the BH off.

Pricing is all over the place. I seen a Kubota dealer by me last week sell a 2020 B26TLB with 300 hours and looked new for $24K. Granted, it only lasted for two days before it was gone.

I’m with others in zero chance I’m paying 90% of new cost with this market. No shortage of equipment around me anymore. That’s just me though

I’d just find a number you’re happy with and then list it. Even if it’s a grand less then your next closest unit if your happy with it who cares. If you’re looking to get the max and not in a rush to sell then try the 90% as others mentioned. I think your area is gonna determine what that number is. Quick search around me and I saw 24000-36000. Depending on condition and attachments. One real clean/new looking with a loaded backhoe bucket forks and grapple for 35000 hours? Didn’t say but I’m guessing from photos no more the 100. Those are Canadian prices also.
