Post hole auger for M7060?

Hello. I recently bought my first Kubota - a 2018 4WD M7060. But I am not tractor savvy. I need to buy a post hole digger. The ground here is very rocky. Any suggestions on what to buy - brand/model/size, etc. Anything at all! Thank You.

"very rocky" could be problematic... can you describe more what you mean by rocky as this means different things to different people.?

Shale, versus 1-3" stones, to 3' boulders all require much different advice.

I bought a used Land Pride HD25 a couple of years ago. It came with 9" and 12" augers. I've only used it on the MX but it worked fine on that tractor. My M6060 has more hydraulic flow so I plan on using it next spring to make some holes for a pole barn. My ground is very rocky with everything from 1" up to 8ft boulders, with lots in the 12" to 36" range!

Your M7060 has even more hydraulic flow than my M6060 so a SSQA model such as the Land PRIDE HD35-BKT could work well. You would need a 3rd function on the tractor to run the HD35 post hole digger and you can buy rock augers which might help you with your rocky ground. This is something I'm going to look into in the spring, 9" and 12" rock augers since mine are certainly not that variety.

So I emailed the local Kubota dealer for prices on the Land Pride rock augers. Are you sitting down?!
I think a 9" or 12" rock auger could be in my future but not until next year.

I think I read a post recently where some clown said ‘there was no such thing as too many implements.’ Whoever that clown was must be wise beyond his years.

FFS I made a deal in past week that was too good for me to pass up and wire transfer later it’s ordered. BOOM! Now Christmas shopping for the spousal unit is done early

I’ve got two more in the watch/bucket list already.

mcmxi is showing a quick attach digger as opposed to a 3 point hitch model. It costs more but is the way to go if you can $wing it. As he mentioned, you have to have a quick hitch loader and third function.

The advantages
* Control - you can use the loader function to plumb, or angle, your holes
* Downforce - the loader can put tractor weight on the auger as opposed to the 3ph, which only uses gravity and the weight of the attachment
* Reversible - if you hit a root or big rock, you can back it out, vs the 3ph version that is forward only
* Ergonomics - the auger is right in front of you vs having to turn around to see it work
* Safety - there is the temptation for someone to guide or add weight with a 3pt auger. Noone should be near a spinning auger. I consider a 3pt hitch auger one of the most dangerous attachments for that reason.

I'm not sure if an auger counts as an implement! Yeah, looking forward to hearing all about your Wallenstein logging winch that your wife is getting for Christmas. She's one lucky woman, and no doubt she'll really enjoy using it.

Excellent points re the advantages of a SSQA post hole digger over a 3-point model. I'll add access too, since the loader has more reach than a PHD on the 3-point. The benefits of downforce, reverse, visibility and control cannot be overstated.

Digga augers offer a halo option that gives an operator visual verification of plumb of your drilling. Usually a two person job easily done by operator. Helpful feature for us that have limited crew.

Years ago setting crossties in 12” holes were tight, hillside terrain and needed to be plumb. If not required too much hand work. Feature I would have definitely appreciated.

Using an auger with a stump planer would be another consideration.
