I'd hate to do it but it looks like I have no other choice and if all goes according to plan, or atleast how I wish it would turn out and go. I might be selling my B6100 this weekend and going after a Ford 1600 with a loader I found on Craigslist. I've searched high and low for a bigger Kubota with a loader and I can't find a thing worth while, turn key within my budget.

It's nothing personal at this point, its just business. I'm getting back into the landscape business, and I'm trying to make this my full time venture. The phone is starting to ring and I've given alot of guesstimates but I really need to move fast and find a tractor with a loader.

So hopefully if this fellow who called me this evening wants my Kubota and has cash in hand I might be flying across the mountains this weekend and go pick up what I need.

This Ford 1600 does sound like a sweet deal and it perfectly suited to my needs. http://roanoke.craigslist.org/grd/3764032792.html

Eric, "you got to do what you got to do". I know what you mean about finding what you want in your budget. I found my first Kubota in Ann Arbor, MI and my second one in Martinsville, Ill. Most of what I have seen in our area are either spent, not in my budget or keepers by the original owners.

Good luck with your sale and purchase!

John

I've been looking all over Ebay and Tractorhouse and Fastline for the last year trying to find a Kubota in the 25-35hp rang with a loader and I can't find the first one to come in under 8 grand. And those in the 8-9k price tag look questionable. I find either worn slam out junk in Kubota or a pretty sharp looking tractor in the 10-12k range.

We shall see how it goes. Maybe I can wiff 5 grand cash under my dads nose and he might sell me his L275 with loader.

Before you buy blue have you looked into a parts supplier?
From what I understand New Holland has taken over Ford tractor and do not inventory much in the way of [your badly needed part here]..

Hey its manufactured in Japan so atleast I'm sticking with the right culture! And Murphy I don't have a need for 4wd. I do residential and commercial landscaping and really have no use for it. 2wd works great for me. And Dan I have a New Holland dealer right around the corner from me who sells a ton of parts for the older Fords. Plus with this wonderful age of the internet alot can be found online.

It all is a pipe dream right this minute. I've got to sell mine and get the money and the room around here to go get another tractor.

Well, if you have to go other than orange, at least it isn't green...
Just kidding. You do what you have to do to make things work- it is good that work is lining up, and hopefully the tractor is in as good a shape as it looks. They are made by Shibaura, and they are good tractors. I wouldn't be scared of it. There are lots of them around, too. I'm sure you can find parts.
And, maybe you will make enough with it to save up and buy the Kubota that you really want, sometime down the road. It can be a means to an end.

An older Ford was the only other brand I'd ever consider. My dad at one time had both a Ford 3550 and the Kubota L275 and the Ford was a beast of a tractor and never a mintues problem. Maybe some day I'll own a 40hp Kubota and have two size tractors to tackle any size job. I've seen alot of M4030's sell reasonibly priced sooo who knows...

I should have known not to jump the gun so soon. Haven't heard a peep from the dude who called me the other night. The guy sounded really interested and I even told him I'd bring it down to him if he'd like to demo it on his property. OH WELL its dickheads like that is why I hate dealing with Craigslist.

At least it's running now, and you can get to some of those jobs.

Yeah you're right. I thought for sure I had him pegged as a buyer. We talked on the phone for the longest time when he called and I answered ever single question he had and they were pretty indepth. Not like your typical tire kicker...

Hi, Eric (and all). New here but have been on some of the other tractor forums for many years. Will be looking for a Kubota in the next year or so, just have a Ford 9N and an 8N now for chores around the llama farm.

On the small Fords, I was warned off by several Ford folks on the various forums. We had several come up for sale locally (one was an estate deal, with loader and backhoe, but didn't run and hadn't in several years) but they said the parts are just about impossible to get and are very pricey when you can get them. That's what led me to consider Kubotas and other CUTs. I hope your experience with this one is different. Good luck with the business!

Some of these older Kubotas can be hard to find hard parts for. Indepth stuff that doesn't normally break. Like with anything in life the older it gets the harder is it to track down parts. Case in point, I needed a drag link for an 88 Chevy C30 one ton truck. Every auto store in town had ones that were to short in length. I had to wait and lucked out when I was driving a tow truck and we picked up a wrecked 3/4 ton and I yanked the drag link off of it. Also needed steering knuckles and I had to get those off a dually truck.

I think I should be fine with the common parts, like an alternator, filters, hoses and belts. As long as I stay ontop of maintenance and fluids I'll be alright. If the motor grenades then grenades and I can't afford to replace it anyway.

Are you still looking at the Ford? Have you had any more bites on your Bota?

I had a fellow call me today who's very new to tractors and we spent almost an hour on the phone talking about things. He just bought 2 acres of land and is clearing out a bunch of trees and logs and wants something to skid short logs with. I told him I didn't think mine would work out well for his needs but he says he'll be here tomorrow at 3 to take a look at it.

I called the guy who has the Ford today and he said so far people want to trade him a bunch of junk for it, he's been offered trucks and jon boats and what not for it and so far I've been the first person to call wanting to buy it out right. He was shocked that I live 4hrs 30mins away and want it. I told him my plans that I need it because business is booming and I need something bigger.

So now I wait and see how the dice roll....
