Is it normal for position control to do nothing until the 3pt lever is in the number 6 range? From there it seems to work appropriatly. But any number below that drops the 3pt all the way down....

Couple of things:

1) B737 is correct. So long as it moves all the way down and all the way up, there’s nothing abnormal.

2) You said in your second post you’re running a boxblade on it. The boxblade is a ground engaging implement so it has to be set up such that it is below grade when the lift is truly all the way down. If it’s sitting on the ground but not cutting in, there’s no way the lift arms are at their lowest point of travel.

For example, my boxblade starts moving about 4. My chipper starts moving about 6. My bush hog starts moving about 1. That’s with the lift height adjustment pins in the middle position. “All the way down” for those implements is defined by when the implement hits the ground, not when the lift arms reach their lower limit of travel. With the trailer mover (which won’t hit the ground even with the lift arms truly all the way down) it starts moving between 0 and 1.

So, next time you have nothing at all on the 3 point, try setting it on 0 and make sure the hitch actually goes down (you might have to stand on a lift arm to get it to go down with nothing on it). Then see when it starts moving up as you move the control lever. I suspect you’ll find it starts moving well before 6.

That's actually what got me thinking. With nothing on it it does not move till number 5? It will drop all the way to the floor below number 5 with no implement

That is a bit different than mine, which also has position control, albeit on an altogether different model. However if the hitch moves throughout its full range of motion with the only issue being the control lever range being limited to 5 to 10, I’m still sticking with nothing to be fixed or adjusted.

Normal. My bush hog runs at about 6 1/2 on level ground for 1 inch up.

The lower settings allow you to lower it on the down side of a mound.

The JD 2025R was nice in that you could set the stop at the "level" position but easily bypass it for like going over a mound.

So that be normal, what is the value of 0-6 on the position control? Does it work with other implements? I've been using it with a box blade.

My B2910 works the same way. No 3PH movement until the lever is raised to point 4 or maybe more.

Not sure why this is, but I have accepted it for 20 years, and it never has been an issue.
