Poor Man's Debris Forks

Hello,

After some 17years of working our forested 20acres here in MT, my wife finally relented and I now have a 1989 Kubota L2550DT with FEL. *Question: *Does it make sense to use 2 pair (4) pallet fork bucket clamp-ons mounted side x side including (2) stabilizer bars as a "poor man's" substitue for a set of clamp-on debris spears (7pt)? *Being retired and over 70, I find that I am more thrifty now and the pallet fork approach is about 1/2 price of the multi-spear assembly. *I have no way to shop fabricate - *or I would.*

Application: *Move piles of tree slash, forest duff, debris,etc to chip/burn site.*

I made a set of forks out of 2x4's and steel that clamp on for virtually no cost or labor. sorry no pic right now, maybe later. They work great for moving logs. I also have a used set of forks from work that I want to fab up someday.

Fence T posts are too soft, you'll just bend them.

I made mine from some angle and flat bar. I have really abused it surprised how well it holds up. You mentioned you didn't have a way to build yourself but maybe find a local fab shop? Something like this wouldn't take very long.

Rick, here's some pictures of a similar tool I made 30 years ago for a B8200. I had a 2" ball mounted on the top of the loader bucket and I hooked the load binder over the ball to hold it in place. I welded a big "O" on the hook of the binder to slip over the ball.

I used scrap iron and 1" barbell iron for the bars.

I made mine out of angle iron and some 1" and 1/4 rebar. All were brought at the local scrap yard for 22 cents a pound. Total I have less than $20.00 in the forks and had enough left over to make a tooth bar.
