Well, I changed the fuel pump on my 50 Willys and then hooked up the plow blade.
Started to back up and POP, something in the clutch "gave way".
got it into the shop with the tractor and found that the clutch fork
just rattles and I am perpetually in neutral.
Have a bad shoulder (workers comp) so no way I am pulling the
transmission/transfer case now.

You may be wondering why we are talking a Willys on OTT, not Willys-Tech?

Well, I had to do something,
so I found a 42" blade in the Springs for $75, got if for $60
added some wings and now it is 60".

In a pinch it is working pretty good.

I keep the FEL in float mode and use the bucket dump to
control the UP and Down of the blade, has about 10° Left
and Right swing.

Will do until I get the plow mounted on my F250.

My first plow vehicle was a 54 Willys Wagon. Total rust bucket with no brakes.
I rigged a manual blade to the non functional electric hoist and used a come-along that was mounted in the cab and connected to the hoist through a hole I drilled in the windshield cowl:D.
We we living deep in the woods, off grid at the time and I was young and more energetic so every storm was a major adventure.
I often needed to put a pile of hot coals from the wood stove [really] under the engine and seal it with fibreglass to get it warm enough to start on those very cold winter mornings.
My wife worked at a local bakery and had to be at work early.

two things I remmeber about my 57 Wilys 4WD.
1)I replaced the zillion needle bearings in the xfr case, heckuva lot smoother and QUIETER !

2) be sure oil scoop for Warn OD is secure ! Otherwise, no oil to it and the 'sun' gear will get a lot smaller and them ZERO connection between engine and road ! This happened with 1 1/2tons of topsoil onboard going down very steep local highway...oh yeah pro rebuilt master went out too......

Bill, sorry to hear of your injury and hope you heal well and soon.

My question is, what or how do those three springs help that blade? They look like compression springs that are clamped tight. To allow movement of the blade when it strikes something solid doesn't it need extension springs that allow it to tilt?

That is exactly what they are/do, allows about 5" of movement.
The left and right spring holes are oblong so they allow up/down tilting.

Works surprisingly well , for something thrown together in an hour or two!
