Can someone tell me what this hole is and if it needs to be plugged? There is a nut up in there and after using the tractor (1990 L3250) for a period of time it starts seeping oil through that hole, unsure if engine or hydraulic oil... Please help?!

There is supposed to be a drain in there.
Bad news is you'll need to find out what fluid is leaking, that way you'll know how to proceed.
I'm betting on a hydraulic leak, sort of common, and no you can't just cap it as it will fill up the clutch housing and ruin the clutch.

I too have the same diagram you show and im afraid youre right. Im afraid too it wont be a cheap fix. The oil thats leaking is black like engine oil and the hydraulic fluid that is in my sight glass still appears clear/amber like new so i was kinda hoping engine oil but..... Thanks for confirming my thinking though

Rear main seal is not too bad to do. ;)
It might be black from clutch dust, but either way it's the same split. :(

Long story short i had a reputable equipt repair man replace clutch and a busted seal in there and its still leaking. He says they replaced everything but that main seal and he would have to split it again. Lol i said yea well i want it fixed like it was posed to have been first time before it ruins this clutch so im sure i will make him at least make it right, cost wise. Called him up and takin it back to him today. Thanks for the info buddy

Have him easy out the broken drain and replace that too, the clutch will last a lot longer. ;)

Drain plug 32430-14270 $7.88
Lock washer 04512-50140 $.10

There is nothing broken just a hole with a nut on the top (inside)... You can thread a bolt up in it no prob but of course i didnt lol i will have to get that plug though once the leak is fixed. I dropped it off this evening and he said that the only seal they didnt replace was the main shaft seal but they would split the case again and make it right. We shall see...
