Hi there after reading numerous forums and different sites this is by far where I need to be and seems like everyone's problems gets solved here. I have a huge one my mx5100 hst wont start its been very cold here the past few days I use it often and im in need of its help now as I was saying its been very cold 15 degrees at night and 30 in the daytime but I left it outside after moving hay a few nights ago I got it to start yesterday as soon as I hit the gas pedal it shut off instantly restarted same result I let it go and tried again today now it wont start at all please help MERRY CHRISTMAS

How old is fuel?
Look at filters? ICE in them?
Once you get it started, if it runs for 15 minutes.......will that help?
Ease into the throttle......difference?
Seems to me you have a fuel delivery problem,
I would look at any and all fuel filters, replace them, it fuel "summer fuel" ?
If so get rid of it........and start fresh.
Let us know what is going on!

Sounds like your diesel fuel has gelled up. Go to a good auto parts store and get some diesel additive that is for ungelling diesel and put it in the tank. Give it some time to work. Then put on new fuel filter and work the treated fuel threw the system.

I agree, sounds like either the fuel has gelled or it just simply has water in the filters and/or lines. If it will crank and idle you might get by with adding some fuel treatment (which I would suggest anyway) and let it work thru the system. Probably the easiest and quickest way is add fuel conditioner and then change the fuel filters . Let us know how you make out.

The gas is only a few weeks old at the most it was low at time of first good freeze "3 days ago" I thought fuel gelled up so I added five gallons of room temp fuel today nothing still. I'll run to auto zone tonight and add the additive and check fuel filter in the morning when it's light guys I really appreciate it

Yes I held the key over to heat the glow plugs for 60 seconds minimum.. This will be the last time I leave it outside

I worry if you can let it idle for that long I wouldn't think plugged filter, but pull it anyway and check it, it wouldn't hurt.

If you ran it real low then refilled it could have sucked the crud out of the bottom of the tank and that will definitely cause issues.

When it dies does it bog down then die?

Does the 3 point, backhoe, power steering and loader work?

Is it geared or HST?

Hey guys I just want to thank all of you I really appreciate your help put te additive in the fuel took filter off and it did have some frozen water or something on the bottom got that cleaned and thawed out fired up afterwards thanks so much

One more tip for the road:

Keep the fuel tank full as much as you can. This applies for winter and summer operation. The more fuel you have in the tank the less room for condensation.

Keep it full, Keep it clean.

Fuel fresh from a station can have water in it, so never assume that new fuel can't be the culprit. I know it's been cold (I live just north of you), but we don't know the cold that some folks operate their diesels in, and they start. You have a great tractor, and it will serve you in the coldest weather that you will see in your region, and come back for more!

Ok fellas get this as I stated earlier tractor fired up I drive it changed out the pallet forks for my bucket and drove it back up to the shop and sprayed all the snow and ice off of it went to feed the animals here on the farm tried to start and now it's like a sensor or something is keeping it from starting it won't even turn over I took air hose to the seat sensor and pto sensor the only other one I know it has is the clutch sensor where may the be or is it something else?

Adding some diesel anti-gel preventative this time of year is a good idea. Fuel companies tend to be slow to switch over to winter fuel, so in the late fall, you never know if it still summer or winter fuel.

I've never not once had a problem out of it bought it new late 2010 and has 206 hrs on it I have had a terrible three days with it

How did you spray it off? Perhaps you got water into a wire connector and shorted out a fuse or fusible link?

Start with the simple things - take a jumper cable directly to the starter and see if it turns over. Key off and in neutral (check twice or more) just to see if the starter will turn over.

If it turns over that way, then go through the fuses and fusible links. Then see if there is water in any of the connections - take them apart and blow them out or use WD-40.
