Traffic laws in my state (unless something's changed since I got my license in 1976) allow a car to have a single brake light and for the driver to use hand signals if no lighted turn signals are mounted. Yes my tractor is a farm vehicle, but has anyone ever added true manual electric turn signals and a foot pedal operated brake light to their tractor for road use? Only letting my eager-to-begin mind run free on a long cold night. hand signals would be fine too, though I can't even remember the last time I've seen them used.Thanks a lot folks. Don.

Tractors are exempt from turn signal requirements.
4 way flashers and a slow moving sign are a much better bet if you need to road travel it.
Hooking up a brake light is a fairly complex undertaking on older models, but can be done, you will need to fabricate a switch plate, switch and wiring, again your much better off with 4 way flashers!

Check your local laws, MD just changed ours, now they wants lights signals, and SMV signs, for the yuppies and citiots to ignore...
As NIW said, tractors are exempt. Also, vehicles are required to meet the laws as of the date of their manufacturing. In other words you do not have to retrofit your model T Ford with seat belts and air bags to drive it to work every day.
Believe it or not most states have specific regulations for SMV signs. They require a specific heights and location on machine.

My BX came with turnsignals also. NAPA auto parts sells a after market turn signal kit. It has all the wiring, switch, flasher and every thing needed to make it work. Also good instructions.
