Ok guys. Just curious what your preferences are.

Wife and I went shopping for pistols today. Haven't found one for me yet. But my wife came home with a sweet 9mm Baretta Px4 storm that fit her good.

We attended the local gun show, and she also came home with a flashlight taser Guess I better behave myself

Man that is a hard choice, in revolvers, right now my favorite is my old duty weapon, a 2 1/2" S&W 66. In pistols it is a Sig 226/229 though my carry gun is a Glock 27 or 23.

My wife's favorites are a Glock 19 and S&W 649.

I carry a H&K P2000 in .40 S&W. My wife has a H&K P2000 9mm.

She shoots the heck out of that gun...very accurate. Makes me sure to be a "nice guy".

Oh, and be sure to test several defense loads for accuracy and read to find out about performance. We found the Federal Premium Personal Defense HST (9mm, 124gr) (40 S&W, 180gr) to be the best of both requirements.

Not all that common around here either, but as I've aged I am gravitating more back to them especially since I don't shoot as much as I use to.

I actually picked up some of those rounds. And a bucket of range loads so she can get lots of practice and get comfortable with it I was looking at the book for her pistol and they also make it in a 40 s&w. So I may go back and get the 40 for me. Haven't decided yet.

We spent about 2 hours at Academy sports, with her handling just about every pistol they had to find one that was easy for her to use and comfortable. Some that were cheaper, we ended up passing on since that actions and functions weren't intuitive. Or gave me fits to be able to release the slide. If it was a bear for me, then it would be useless for her.

On one model, the sales guy got cut pretty good when operating the release on the slide Told him he could put that one up with out us looking at it. Noticed that some that had really good reviews were really clunky to load and use. Even some of the brands and models that are extremely popular and publicized.

Grandson introduced me to Glocks when he bought a 17. As much as I've run my mouth making fun of "Teutonic Tupperware", I have to admit that was a sweet shooting piece.

I also have a Walther PP in .380 that's handy for concealed carry and a Ruger Single Six that is just plain fun to shoot.

I have a preference for the 1911A1. I had a Belgian Browning HiPower that was nice, but I just liked my Rem Rand 1911 loaded with match parts. For a wheel gun the old Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special was hard to beat as a CCW. I just like big heavy rounds.

I used to work with a guy who carried a Ruger Blackhawk. He reasoned that if someone got it away from him by the time they figured out it was single action he could find something to hit 'em with -

Boys (and girls too),

when you get a chance - pull the trigger on ANY of the PPQ models from german made WALTHER, once you do - you will change your thoughts on what a "good" trigger and great gun should be like to hold and shoot.

I am going to get this tomorrow- bought one 2 years ago for my oldest son, and liked the trigger and how it shot so much that I am gonna get me one !!!

That looks to be a full-size Px4 - very nice. I had the compact version. The rotary barrel makes it especially soft-shooting and the different backstraps make it adjustable for different size hands. I sold mine because I found the slide-mounted safety too difficult to reach one-handed.

I took that gun to the range when my wife came along once. She's a Navy vet, so I figured she could learn to enjoy shooting. I chambered one round for her, she hit the target at 5 yards, and she was done. Oh well...

My preference is the start with handle angle. Raise your pistol to shooting position and then look down the sights, if they are close to your target, then the angle of the grip matches your personal wrist position.

Glocks fit me good, I have a few, but they are awfully fat for in-the-waistband carry.

I found that the Sig Saur P938 has a very similar grip angle, but a much slimmer profile, so it's my current daily carry pistol.

For home defense/personal carry type stuff I use Glocks in various 9mm sizes. I have others but my theory when it comes to HD/SD is KISS. It could be me, my wife or my two daughters involved and a Glock is a Glock is a Glock, pick up, sight picture, pull trigger, repeat as needed. They all know it will go bang when the trigger is pulled so no fumbling with safeties, decockers, hammers etc.

The safety is easy to reach on hers. But there was something in the book stating that there was some features that were redesigned, so they could have changed it. Just a quick flick with your thumb. That was something we checked before buying. Since it was for my wife, we had her run through all the operations to make sure she could use it smoothly one handed. And that the operations were easy and intuitive for

Ah, a like minded man. I also have a P220, hard to hold onto as my son keeps drooling on it.

I've kept a J frame or two around for over forty years, love em.

I swore I'd never own a Glock, but when our department restricted us to the Glock only, I HAD to use them and darned if they didn't grow on me, not my favorite, but I'm OK with them now. Good thing about them is ease of repair and everyone in my family is familiar with them.

I've got a PPKS, couldn't find a PP AND I've put about a gazillion rounds through a Single Six, owned one since 1969, my first handgun, paid $75 for it I think.

Out of all my handguns my favorite is s CZ shadow. I can't speak to CCWvas we do not have that option in Canada, only the criminals carry here.

We are gonna switch the sights out on the Baretta.

We went shooting today. Brother in law brought over some of his pistols that were similar size to try. Found that we liked the sites and had better consistency on his.

Both were the same size, weight, and trigger pull. Only difference was the sight.

After a couple clips through it, we were getting an 8" grouping with ours. With the other, we were getting a 3" grouping.

Glock glock glock,,, like Marsha, Marsha, Marsha,,,, Now ifin i was a gun guy . My tastes would roll to the 1911, and Sig P320C, both of which carry very nicely in an ITW kydex holster. Not that I would know anything about that, mind you.Problem as I heard it said the 1911 will pull your britches down on one side unless you sinch your belt up so tight you cant breath. The Sig is very close to the 1911 grip angle so its a nice cross over not like those G guns that have a grip like a, a, a, well I dont know what but they are uncomfortable. So were it me a Sig or 1911 for EDC,, the OL uae to be a hell of a shot with the 29 or so I have been told. But then like I said Im not a gun guy I just heard the big kids talkin about it one time
