Had a drunk driver come all the way over into my lane tonight. I just want to thank GOD that I was paying attention and that I had a safe place to run off the road to keep from getting hit. She is spending the night with the county.

You are very fortunate. Many others havent been so lucky. Today it doesent even have to be intoxication, distracted driving is the new highway killer. Its scary to see how many people cross the centre line or roll on to the shoulder.

Add winter driving into the mix, drivers need to be on their toes 100% of the time.

Times 2 on the distracted driving. Lost count how many times someone has cut me off or almost sideswiped me while they have been texting and driving. Or trying to make a phone call

One of the downsides to rural living is narrow roads and sloppy drivers. I have no idea if they are drunk or just careless. But every trip out, I see at least one car well across the double yellow.
Several times a week the news has reports about single car crashes.

My rule is, every car coming the driver is going to cross it and try to head on with me. So I am constantly at the ready and looking for my 'out'. It stinks having to be so leary of 'the other guy' but it seems, the only person who has any interest in my survival is me.

I laid in bed last night thinking if I was on the bike it would not have pretty. It was so close that I knew I was going to get some of it. Just didn't know how bad it was going to be. I am a game warden and it did not take long for me to show her my Christmas lights.

I had some real close calls on a bike in Florida. Couple different times it was an old person not looking or seeing me then just coming over on me. Nothing like hugging the white line between an Cadillac and bronco, where you can stick your arms out and touch the vehicles

Yeah, my motorcycle has been garaged for over a year now. I really don't trust the drivers any more. Combine that with all the cars getting lighter and smaller, it explains the injury stats.

I really wish they'd let us arm our cars with paintball guns. Then we'd know to avoid the cars with massively multiple splotches of colors on them.

I don't trust other drivers at all any more.

Many years ago I was northbound in the far left lane, in broad daylight, on I-17 at about Dunlap (AZ guys know exactly where I mean) when I see a car coming southbound in my lane. I made a blind lane change (thank God no one was alongside), as did the guy behind me, but the third guy wasn't so lucky- he was hit head on. He was killed, passenger badly hurt. DPS estimated the combined speed at 100-120mph. Drunk wrong way driver walked away with a few scratches, and was laughing as they put him in the cop car. He later admitted to being awake & drinking for 36hrs straight. This was his 5th DUI. Where's the brush chipper when you need one?

This girl blew a .15, nearly twice the illegal limit. First thing she told me is { I only had a couple of beers}. She was about 25 yo and driving a 70,000 M Benz. It might offend someone, but it looked like to me that daddy probably thinks little angle does no wrong and she has been handed everything. She got to spend the night in probably the worst jails in Al.
