Well it seems I'm still here so on a lighter note how many remember Paul Harvey?
I tried not to miss his radio program "The rest of the story". Sometimes I could
out guess him but not often.

When I was young my mom would listen to Paul Harvey every day and I remember thinking "boring". Now, after watching many of his shows on YouTube, anytime he pops up in my feed, I listen. Love his monologues. "So god made a farmer", " If I were the devil", etc... really makes me wish I'd listened closer when I was younger.

This brings back a lot of memories. I grew up on a hard scrabble farm in
the MO Ozarks. As a youngster some of my chores were to carry fire wood for my grandmas cook stove and water for doing the dishes and the wood heating stove in the winter as well as other mundane everyday chores.Taught me a lot. My elders were hard working farmers and were honest, their word was their bond and was respected
throughout the area as the family name still is even after the old folks have
long since past.

Americana at it's finest...... I always enjoyed his discussions and more over, I miss the era in which they took place. Life back then was better in so many ways.

He was definitely an icon. Mike Rowe has started a similar series, "The Way I Heard It", and while it's good, nothing quite replaces Harvey.
