Attached is a quote I got from a local dealer. I am wanting to add two additional remotes to rear of my M7040, both with float function. I think I can get the parts cheaper (this dealer is known for being way high on prices). I assume those are the part numbers on the left? Know of any place that has this stuff cheaper?

Coleman, Messicks, Golden eagle, Just to name a few, they are wholesalers and are usually the best price.

I looked up a part on Messick's site a few weeks ago and it was $399. Bought it at my local dealer for $285. So don't assume that your local dealer is always high priced Check around.

8 gpm: $200

30 gpm: $145

So it looks like it's in the $200 range for the valves, but count in the hoses and mounts, $600 for the kit isn't so bad and it's a Kubota kit so they can't complain about the hardware.

$2K for everything out the door isn't awful, but 2 separate remotes? Wouldn't a single remote with a double spool be better?

ShaunRH,
The valves you show are aftermarket single spool valves, the valves that he got a quote on are factory, dual spool with detent valves, night and day difference. ;)

For whatever it's worth and regarding shipping costs...

Assuming I'm in no particular hurry my dealer will add my parts onto his standard weekly pallet shipment from the warehouse and not charge additional freight.

Different if I need a part RIGHT NOW and can't wait. Then I pay it and gripe but realize there is little option.

Have ordered large size stuff and had to wait two or three weeks until the dealer either had two pallets coming or had a small weekly order, then my large stuff was used to make up the difference on the pallet.

Might work for you and save a few bucks. In your case saving 2% is the same discount often offered by trade warehouses for payment within ten days (aka '2% 10, net 30').

Please keep us posted so we may all learn.

NI Wolfman, that just makes my point even better, so thanks!

I guess he's trying to add 4 work ports to the rear then? I really misread that post. At that point I'd probably just add a stack unit for a backhoe. I just spec'd a 4 gang unit, all with detented float for $820. So the Kubota kits aren't far off that price.

It's all within a few % of each other so the dealer price is probably a good deal if you consider that it is warrantied and Kubota can't gripe about it.
